Christmas on the Blue Violin is the first Christmas album of Pavel Šporcl, created with the world-famous Royal Liverpool Philharmonic orchestra and conductor Sebastian Lang – Lessing. The album contains the most famous as well as lesser-known Christmas melodies, songs and traditional carols in special arrangements for solo violin accompanied by the orchestra, released by Universal Music. The guests of the album are members of the Czech choir Boni Pueri and harpist Jana Boušková.
« The Royal Liverpool Philharmonic is undoubtedly one of the best orchestras in the world. I have already cooperated with them several times but this has been the first time when we have made recordings together. It has been a highly enriching experience. Likewise, I have been amazed by the musicianship with the wonderful and world-renowned conductor Sebastian Lang – Lessing. I myself have participated in the arranging of songs, especially my violin part, » adds Pavel Šporcl about the recording in Liverpool. Besides the hit Jingle Bells, the magical carol Silent Night and Schubert’s Ave Maria, the new album also includes the violinist’s latest own composition Prayer.
« Music brings nations together. Since ancient times, thanks to music, people have been decorating the celebrations during Advent and Christmas time. Its beauty will enhance the atmosphere of the festive moments not only in churches and concert venues but also inside our homes. That’s why I have made this record with Christmas carols and songs from different parts of the world that I like, » says the violin virtuoso.
